In 2023 we launched the Rap Lyric Generator on Word Studio.
Back then it ran on GPT-3.5 and just producing coherent rhymes already felt like a small miracle. We built it purely for fun. No grand plan, just messing around. We simply did it because we could.
Since then, traffic to the rap generator has grown a lot. These days we regularly get hundreds of visitors per day who want to write rap lyrics with AI.
Over the past couple of years we’ve upgraded it several times: better models, smarter prompts, more style options. We now offer more than 15 presets plus a custom style field where you can describe exactly what you want. We also removed some of the more restrictive fields (like the rapper “name” input) after listening to user feedback collected directly on the tool page.
Recently, Suno, the current leading AI music generation platform, published their list of the 5 Best AI Rap Lyrics Generators for 2026. Word Studio’s rap generator came in at #2, right behind Suno’s own lyric-writing tool.
For those who don’t know Suno yet: it’s been the go-to music generator for several years now. You can create complete songs (5+ minutes long) in almost any genre, including rap, by giving it your own lyrics, a style prompt, and even “source audio” such as a guitar riff or your own voice. It’s fun and powerful tool to play with.
Suno highlighted our rap generator for its structure and creative control. Like all Word Studio tools, we deliberately try to strike a balance between control and simplicity. This is more difficult than it seems, and it depends a lot on the task and the person using the tool.
- If you design a tool with only dropdowns and switches, it becomes super easy to use… but also very inflexible.
- If you make it completely open-ended and highly configurable, it quickly gets overwhelming…you might as well just use ChatGPT, Claude, or Grok directly.
So we ended up with a simple form that allows you to enter rough notes about the story or theme. You can enter a one-line statement, a bunch of jumbled notes, or a rough draft. Then we included a dropdown selector (very popular) that determine the “style”. We have a bunch of unique artist influences and genre directions built into these options. But some people want to craft their own style prompt, so we added a custom style field for that. Lastly, we have an extra field where you can add any other directions to steer the AI in writing your lyrics.
We also made a conscious choice to format the output with clear [Verse], [Hook], [Chorus] labels (and similar). That structure turns out to be very convenient when you feed the lyrics straight into music generators like Suno.
Last year we took things one step further and created our first Word Studio “Original Content”: a rap album.
The digital rap persona is called Compound Stacks, and the entire album is about financial education…think Schoolhouse Rock for the modern age. Every track is either a story or a cautionary tale built around topics like saving, investing, assets, credit card debt, and so on.
The first Compound Stacks album dropped on streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) in late 2025.
Most of it was produced using Suno v4.5, our original lyrics, and some very carefully crafted style prompts. Once again: we did it just for fun. With Suno, not only can you generate a full song, you can also export the “stems” for the song. Stems are individual audio files that represent “tracks” for each instrument or vocals. With stems, you can manipulate and edit the song inside of a digital audio workstation (DAW) like Logic or even Garage Band.
I’m genuinely honored that Word Studio’s Rap tool made it onto Suno’s Best AI Rap Lyrics Generators for 2026 list. We get a lot of positive feedback, and this just reaffirms that we aren’t the only ones who enjoy it.
