The Movie Recommender is an AI tool designed to provide personalized film recommendations tailored specifically to your tastes and preferences. By analyzing your favorite movies, preferred genres, themes, subjects, and any restrictions or exclusions you specify, this it curates a list of movies you’ll likely enjoy.  Here is a quick guide to using this movie recommendation tool.

Movies You Enjoyed

Enter a short list of movies you’ve particularly liked. This is crucial as it allows the tool to identify your unique taste, style preferences, and the kind of stories that resonate with you.

• List a few movies you genuinely enjoyed.
• Separate each movie title with commas.

Preferred Genre and Additional Genre

These dropdown fields let you narrow down recommendations to genres you enjoy the most. You may select just one preferred genre or add a second for more variety.

• For focused recommendations, choose one or two genres.
• Leaving these blank will yield a wider, genre-diverse selection.

Themes or Topics of Interest

Use this section to indicate particular themes or story elements that you’re interested in exploring. The recommendation engine thoughtfully considers these topics to deliver movies that align with your interests. Here are a few theme ideas.  You can be as descriptive as you would like.

Viewing Preferences or Restrictions

In this field, specify any notes or special viewing requirements you have. This helps ensure that recommendations align comfortably with your viewing standards or content sensitivities.  Here are a few examples you can try:

• Non-English films
• Female main character
• Academy Award nominees
• Cult classic films

Exclude These Movies

If you have specific movies you don’t wish to receive as recommendations—perhaps you’ve already watched them or simply didn’t enjoy them, enter them here clearly.  If you want to go deeper, you can paste the list of previous recommendations in this box to get a fresh list of suggestions.

Suggest Movies Button

Once all fields are filled appropriately, click on the “Suggest Movies” button at the bottom. The recommendation engine will generate a curated list of 10 films with release year and description.  Here are some additional tips to get better movie recommendations.
